About me

Hi, my name is Raven I am from Brooklyn NY. I am an educator. Ever since I was five years old I knew I wanted to become a teacher. When I was younger I would play pretend school with my two sisters. My mom even went to the extent of buying me a chalkboard. I went to a high school to prep me for education and being a teacher. I then went to Brooklyn College where I obtain my degree in education. I am finishing up My master's degree in January 2022 and will have my master's in early childhood and special education. Since I graduated and even while in undergrad I. Have been working for families doing backup care, date night, and after-school care.

My first job was with a private daycare for four years. The school accepted children from age 2 to 10 elementary school-age children. It was a wonderful job and it was my jump start in my passion for teaching. The job ended due to the school's financial reasons. I then did two other afterschool jobs. One with an 8-year-old boy. I would pick him up from school, do homework together and hang out until his parents got home at 6 pm. My next family was with two siblings at the time 3 and 8-year-old boy and girl. It was after-school care. The children will come home to do homework, on nice days we will go to the park or a friend's house and I will care for them until the parents came home at 630pm. I also did a date night with that family whenever mom and dad need a day off. Other than that I did occasionally setting with a sister company with backup care for a few years. After that, I worked at a sleep-away camp for the YMCA and I was a camp counselor for the summer. I did graduate from undergrad and in 2019 I was offered a position at a private preschool in Brooklyn working with the 2’s and 3’s and now with 3k. I am currently still at the job. I still do occasionally babysitting and weekend jobs if parents ask me.

To me a care giver is patient, nurturing, attentive, open, responsible and reliable. And I believe I have those characteristics plus more. I enjoy and have a passion to work with children. I love seeing them grow and explore in their every day lives.
