About me

Hello! I’m Alaina!

I grew up in Smyrna, Tennessee. Even from a young age, I was constantly active in theatre. For college, I moved to NYC where I studied Drama at the Juilliard School. I just recently graduated summer of 2021, after finishing school remote. Though that time was obviously very difficult, this year has taught me a lot about persistence and determination. In high school, I interned at a musical theatre intensive where I spent the summer mentoring young students on college prep and performing. This sparked my interest in childcare.

During my time in higher education, I began working as a teacher and babysitter. I was an instructor with the Juilliard CLIMB program, which focused on artistic involvement in students ages 6-10. During the weekly program, I lead students in warm ups and games, as well as rehearsing for a final show performed for their parents. I also worked for a family with a 10 year old daughter. My responsibilities included school pick up and drop off, providing entertainment throughout the day, preparing meals, and helping them accomplish their daily responsibilities and goals. With my most recent family, I babysit a 9 year old and a 5 year old. I was usually needed for school and camp pick up, where after I would sometimes take them to the local parks, prepared and served dinner, and help facilitate their nighttime routines.

My experience in studying acting has helped me to develope a better sense of emotional intelligence, something that has helped me in childcare. My greatest goal is to foster a deeper sense of understanding with the children I babysit for. I want them to feel understood and heard so that they may go out in the world and do that with others.
