About me

Hello, I’m Rachel! I grew up in Sacramento, California as the oldest of 3 children (and the oldest of 7 grandchildren!) and I always had a passion for theater, art, and music. I went to college at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where I majored in theatre arts with an emphasis in acting technique, directing, and theatre management. After college I started teaching Gymboree Play and Music classes part-time while I also did a casting internship for NBC/Universal. One thing led to another and I’ve been in NYC working as a casting professional for the past 8 years.

As the oldest of 3 siblings and 7 cousins, I have been taking care of children since I was about 10 years old. During high school, I babysat for a neighboring family’s children - they had 3 kids, from newborn to 6 years old – and I was with them on a regular basis for 4 years until I went to college. My duties ranged from picking them up from school or summer camp, mealtimes, homework help, bath times, playtimes, bedtimes, etc. After college I taught Gymboree play, music, art, sports, and preschool classes to newborn to 5 year olds and I excelled in early childhood development and nursery education theory. Through Gymboree I met some amazing families and began babysitting for about 7 different families on a weekly basis. The children I babysat for ranged in age from 3 months to 6 years old. I even travelled with one of my closest families – accompanying them on vacations and being on-call for any help they needed on the trip. After moving to NYC I sought out babysitting opportunities as a way to build community and friendship in a new city.

When I was growing up, my babysitter was my role model and inspiration - I remember that I wanted to do whatever she was doing and dress how she dressed, there was no one cooler than my babysitter, Steph! She had a huge impact on my early life and I strive to be a role model for children now. The world can be a crazy place and I want to help empower children to be who they are and encourage them to be inspired by the world around them.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love creative and imagination play - doing art projects or dressing up and pretending to be our favorite Disney characters or making up skits, songs, and dances. I also enjoy teaching strategy and creative thinking by playing board games and other educational games.
