About me

My name is Carla and I grew up in the country of Belize as a little girl. I have eight siblings - one sister, and seven brothers. I was the eldest of all my siblings, so I helped my mother with babysitting from time to time. I learned a lot about early childhood development from caring for my siblings. I never imagined it would lead me to a lifelong career as a childcare provider.
As a child, I enjoyed playing games in the yard with my siblings and cousins. We played red light, green light, hide and seek under the moonlight, marbles, softball, and went to the beach frequently. I always liked numbers, so I decided to study accounting. In 1990, I moved to the United States of America for better opportunities.
While living in the US, a family friend asked me to babysit, and each week I found myself taking care of children. I discovered how much I enjoyed working with children, so I enrolled in school to take early childhood education. I currently have a license in childcare, I’m certified in CPR/First Aid and I’m also certified in early literacy. Certified in Newborn Care Specialist Course I’ve held many long-term positions as a childcare worker over the years. In my most recent job, I started working with a girl when she was just 3 months old. She was such a joy to work with. There wasn’t a day that she did not smile at me. Each day I came to work I would say hello to her and sing her songs. This was followed by feeding her and burping her. Before a nap, we would read a book and engage in tummy time. I was always dedicated to tummy time and would physically get down on the floor and play with her while introducing her to new toys. Over the months I saw progress in her development. During tummy time I also exposed her to shapes, sounds, and colors. When weather permitted we took walks to the library, had playdates, and visited parks, museums, and various activities with friends.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love working with children it allows me to express my creativity and imagination during play, I am also fond of helping children learn, supporting, encouraging, and fostering their development and exploring new adventures. I see the world through the eyes of a child and teach the children in my care to sing songs, play games, visit the library, and read books, artwork, numbers, and letters. daily walks, playdates, puzzle children's daily routines, and good hygiene habits The love I give and the love I receive back from the child in my care is often worth much more than any paycheck.
