About me

I am an experienced childcare provider based in Brooklyn. I grew up in a large family, and would attribute my passion for childcare to my close relationship with my younger siblings. As a child, I got to experience nature-filled days with my siblings, learning from the natural world around us in the wooded, rural area we grew up in. I feel that this experience fuels my passion for encouraging kids toward nature based educational approaches and play experiences. I feel strongly about the importance of place based, inquiry based education, and connecting children to their role in environmental stewardship.
I started babysitting for special-needs families at the age of 15, and have continued my career in childcare ever since. I have nannied for families in the North Jersey area and NYC area full time and part-time, with experience in care for multiple siblings simultaneously, and care for children with special needs. I have been fortunate enough to have taught internationally through non-profit work to underprivileged children in Guatemala, where I taught ESL and provided homework help and tutoring to children ages 4-15 at a private orphanage.
I have since continued to further my teaching experience by running a pod group of Pre-K students since September 2019, through the end of the last school year. I created and implemented an all-year, outdoor, nature based curriculum for a Pre-K class, and quickly became extremely proficient at creating solutions to any problem that may arise in a child, be it emotional, physical, or due to weather-related circumstances. I implemented elements of Waldorf and Montessori based education methods, while also creating a course of study that progressed in accordance with the NY State learning standards. I feel confident in my ability to rise to any childcare, teaching, or tutoring challenge or goal, and feel so grateful for all of the students and kids who have influenced me in a positive way over the course of my career!
