About me

I grew up in Dallas, Texas as the youngest sibling with two older brothers. I am currently in school at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I have an AAS in Textile Development & Marketing and pursuing my BS in the same major. My educational and career pursuits are separate from my childcare work. I've always wanted to work with kids. This is why I am continuing to work in childcare-related work outside of school.

In terms of my childcare work experience, I have been a date-night sitter, part-time sitter, nanny, tutor, and camp counselor. One of the families I have worked for started when the children were 4 and 6 years old. This mainly consisted of watching the kids on date nights. The daughter attended the same school that I did. I speak French, Spanish, and English fluently and learned over the 15 years I attended this school. While babysitting, we'd practice her French through games, books, and apps on her iPad. Throughout my time working for this family, I also watched the children during the daytime for a few summers while the parents worked.

In high school, I worked for a close family friend. The children were 9, 11, and 13 when I started. I worked over weekends, holiday breaks, and summers. This involved many hours of babysitting, driving the kids to their extracurricular activities, picking them up from school, and helping each child re-organize their rooms. Two of the children attended the same school as me, so I helped them quite a bit with their French homework. Any time I went over to their home, I would help out by doing dishes, making the kids' meals, tidying up around the house, and did laundry for the family.

My most prominent childcare experience has been working at a YMCA summer camp for 3 years. I have been a camp counselor for girls ages 9-16. Every week, I am responsible for up to 12 girls in my cabin. I ensure the kids have the best weeks of their lives. I've lead activities including arts and crafts, sailing, skiing/wakeboarding, canoeing, outdoor living skills, archery, etc. At camp, I also work as a lifeguard. I am currently YMCA Lifeguard v6 certified. As well as CPR, First Aid, Basic Life Support, Emergency Oxygen, and AED certified.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love teaching and sharing my language abilities with children. I also find it very important to do creative activities with children. I am very artistic and can have done many different arts and crafts activities. Playing games, writing stories, going to see plays and walking to parks are some of my favorite activities to do with children. My most favorite activity to do with kids is read to them. I read some of my favorite books to my teen campers and they loved it.
