About me

My name is Hermane C., and I am from the beautiful island of St. Lucia. I am from a large family and always enjoyed caring for the younger ones. My experience with children started as a teenager, babysitting my younger siblings, nieces and nephews. Immediately after I graduated from high school, I got my first job as a preschool teacher, teaching children ages two through five. I really enjoy seeing children in educational and non-educational settings.
     I've also always enjoyed watching and playing sports. As a young adult, I was a sports coach for children with disabilities. It was an honor being their coach and I learned so much from them. In 1995, I attended the Special Olympics with them in New Haven, CT. It was amazing to be around these special children, seeing them compete in the games, not complaining or letting their disabilities slow them down or stand in their way. They pushed themselves and did their best that they could. I was extremely proud of them.
     Migrating to America, I continued working with children as a nanny. I have more than 20 years of childcare experience, working with children of all ages. Most of all, I love caring for infants and toddlers, because everything is new to them! Their curiosity about everything, and they say and do the funniest things. I love children's energy and joy. As a nanny I have many hats; I am a potty trainer, dance partner, meal planner, nurse, a playdate, outdoor activities, teacher, arts and crafts. I read books and listen to podcasts to provide kids with the right tools that enable them to learn better. I am reliable, compassionate, flexible, trustworthy, patient, caring. I treat people the same way that I would like to be treated.
     It's is very fulfilling teaching children skills that they will have a lifetime. I love children's energy and joy. I enjoy being goofy - it's one of my favorite things to do with children. Each child has great potential and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know each child as an individual to meet their needs. Children's safety, security and happiness is my main priority, Working and caring for children is the only job I have had, and it is the most rewarding job!
