About me

Having grown up in pastoral Pennsylvania with a younger brother, I experienced an exciting childhood. I loved spending time outdoors, cooking, and art-making. I left Pennsylvania in 2017 to study at Pratt Institute. I began nannying during my sophomore year, and have since worked longterm for 3 families. After graduating in May of 2021 with a BFA in Film, I started working for Brooklyn Nature Days, an outdoor Forest School in Prospect Park, as a teacher of 3-7 year-olds. I love to incorporate my extensive arts & film education into my childcare work, often prioritizing creativity and expression in the activities I plan.

My experience with children began in 2017 when my parents adopted a newborn. I loved helping to care for her, inspiring me to pursue child care professionally. My first nannying job began in 2017 for two siblings aged 7 & 9 in Park Slope, providing school pick-ups, activity drop-off, homework help, light cooking and house cleaning services. Additionally, I would stay late whenever the family needed. The family left Brooklyn in 2020, but I occasionally travel upstate to provide childcare for long weekends. I’ve also nannied for a 3-year-old boy in Crown Heights, proving daytime and nighttime help, especially with bath time and bedtime. Most recently, I’ve babysat for a 9-year-old girl, working with an emphasis on guided creative activities, including producing mini-movies and drawing, as this child is interested in the arts. In the summer of 2021, I began working as a Teacher at Brooklyn Nature Days in Prospect Park. I supervise ten 3-7-year-old kids alongside a co-teacher in the unpredictable, outdoor environment of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. I foster curiosity and creativity in a child-led non-punitive program, in addition to safe park transportation, lunch supervision, and guidance with wildlife interaction.

Personally, I love everything relating to art and nature, particularly hiking, filmmaking, birdwatching, sewing, and drawing, and I strive to incorporate my expertise into my childcare practice. I believe that every child deserves an opportunity to be heard and to be treated with patience and kindness, and this is the motto I work by!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In a space where I can continue to learn and grow alongside children. I would love to work in some sort of non-profit/ethical workplace where I can continue to work with children, with a heavy emphasis on the arts & nature.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to share my love of art and nature with children! Regarding art: I've organized mini-filmmaking workshops with a child I've nannied, and I've helped her to create multiple hilarious, creative mini-films that she shares with her friends and family. I also help children learn to express their creativity without bounds or fears through creative drawing activities. Regarding nature: I bring bird and animal guides and my binoculars with me into Prospect Park to teach children how to identify animal species, and they often come back the next day with fun animal/plant knowledge that they pass on to me! I love seeing a child passionately pursue a field that I helped introduce them to!
