About me

Hi, my name is Lisa! I am originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, have lived and been a nanny in NYC for almost 10 years. In recent years, my focus has been primarily on toddlers, but I have ample experience and proven ability to connect and communicate with children of all ages, and I am extremely excited to shift to working with school-aged children.

I love to take kids to parks, galleries, museums, libraries, performances, and community events, as well as work on elaborate art projects and puzzles at home. I did a lot of theater in adolescence and still love getting to flex my thespian muscle through imaginative play and reading aloud. I am extremely active and enjoy being fully engaged when I am working. I am also a huge professional football and basketball fan and would love to get to talk sports with kids. My academic background is in Greek and Roman history and language, and some of my personal passions include live music, dancing, film, contemporary art, and animals.

Since living in NYC, I have cared for children of different age groups as a nanny in three full-time, long-term positions and one part-time, short-term position. Some of my responsibilities have been after-school pickups, coordinating and managing calendars and schedules, taking kids to classes and activities, homework help, making snacks and meals, bathing, and bedtime routines. I am very confident traversing the city with children, whether by subway, walking, or taxi.

I truly strive to be an asset to any family I work for. I am adaptable, flexible, and an excellent listener. I am also a trustworthy confidante and enjoy giving advice or ideas. I am loving, polite, friendly, supportive, punctual, and honest. I am a good communicator, a team player, and take feedback with ease. I am genuinely passionate about providing fun, high-quality, safety- and education-focused childcare, and I would love to be considered for your family!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I would love to operate or own an indoor play space for children in various age groups.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love getting to teach about Greek mythology and ancient history, and thanks to recent trends in children’s literature, kids soak it up! I really enjoy singing and dancing with kids, and I have found that the silliness that dance affords me is also a good way to promote myself as a non-judgmental adult. Exchanging random factoids is one of the best parts of working with kids; I love learning new facts about animals, outer space, and history. Sitting together in a library or on google to find answers to life's many questions is enriching and fun. The mentorship aspect of working with older children that are navigating complex social situations for the first time is a joy and a privilege.
