About me

Hi there! I'm originally from a small town in the mountains of North Carolina. I was home schooled along with my two younger siblings from Kindergarten through high school. Ever since I was six years old, I've been involved in music and dance. I pursued my love of music at New York University, where I graduated in 2020 with my Bachelor in Music Education. Since graduating, I've been teaching online, working with students across the globe. I teach a variety of classes from private flute lessons to music history and theory to knitting and crocheting.

Growing up as the oldest child, I would often keep the peace between my siblings, offer them advice or even watch them while my parents were busy. During the summers of 2016-2018, I babysat for many families with children ranging from 1 to 11 years old in my hometown. I can comfortably watch up to three children on my own and have experience working with children with special needs. During my time as a student teacher, I taught students with learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome. In the 2017-18 school year, I lived and worked in Germany as an Au Pair for a family of four (children aged 3 and 8). My work included bringing the children to various sports and activities, evening babysitting, homework tutoring and housework. I prepared the older child for school, rode my bike to pick up the little one from his kindergarten and read lots of books aloud in German and English!

I love working with children in all aspects! Whether that's teaching a student how to play the flute or reading a bedtime story to a toddler, I enjoy being involved in children's journeys through life. As an artistic and musical person myself, I believe that creativity is incredibly important when connecting with children. I like to take cues from the child's interests and will provide opportunities for them to explore their imagination through art projects, dancing, or building with Legos! I also enjoy exploring the great outdoors and love to play outside with the kiddos I work with as well. I would describe my approach to childcare as patient, playful and child-led!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope that I'll be living in Germany with my cat, Minuit, and working as a music therapist for children with disabilities. I'd like a house that's close to good hiking trails with a garden full of flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables in my backyard.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I teach private flute lessons and teach students about music history and theory professionally. In addition to music, I also enjoy teaching crafts such as crocheting, knitting, bracelet making and watercolor painting. My favorite past-time is reading with children, getting engrossed in a fun story! When children (and I) are full of energy, it's loads of fun to get active with a dance party!
