About me
Hello! My name is Katharine “Kat” Harris and I am a long term nanny and caregiver living in Manhattan! I have a Bachelors of Music from John’s Hopkins University and a Masters in Theater from Boston Conservatory at Berkeley College of music. Though I adore music and performance, being one of six children, I have been a caregiver for as long as I can remember! am an empathetic, energetic and fun nanny who loves the balance of everyday structure/routine with exciting and creative adventure. Though not formally trained, I love using a few Montessori principles in my work, fostering independence, language, fine motor skills, and executive functioning from an early age! As a musician and performer, I enjoy cultivating an environment with children that is filled with music, dancing and silliness. I have been described as an affectionate and loving person, who speaks to children as equals.
A priority for me is making sure I create a space for children where they feel safe. Every emotion is a valid one as long as it is expressed in a productive way. I encourage constant communication about feelings to enhance the emotional intelligence and self awareness.
I take holidays and birthdays very seriously and try to bring joy, excitement, and a positive approach to everything we adventure and embark on each day!
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)

In 5 years, I hope to be...
Potentially be a music or play therapist for children and families! I hope to be happy and discovering more pathways in life that I love and am passionate about!
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love to incorporate music lessons, rhythm and hand games, dance classes, exploring and learning from nature! I use a lot of imagination games and make believe. I strive to embody as well as teach empathy and compassion. I try to model a creative curriculum in the home and use positive redirection as well as structured play and activities every day to help kids adapt to routines.
