About me

I grew up in Lima, Ohio as the middle child of 7 children! I have always enjoyed singing, and as a child, I loved playing outside with my brothers and sisters, swimming, and spending time at my grandparents' house, sewing and using my imagination to play with my dolls and toys. I grew up in a very conservative household and that led me to attend Bob Jones University where I majored in Youth Ministry and minored in Dramatic Production.
While I was in college, my oldest brother and his wife had my niece and nephew, and during a winter break, I helped my sister-in-law care for my niece, who was not quite 2 at the time, and my nephew, who was a newborn. I moved to Atlanta two years after graduating from college and Adrianna (their nanny) encouraged me to look into nanny jobs. At her encouragement, I began my first nanny job for a 5 and 6-year-old in May of 2009. In the time since then, I've worked for countless families as a nanny, babysitter, fill in/temp nanny, daycare/camp worker at the YMCA, and after school assistant program manager at The United Methodist Children's Home. I've worked with children of all ages in different capacities, but my specialty is really working with school aged children ages 4+. I've done pickups and drop-offs, meal preparation, organized play dates, helped with morning and bedtime routines, taught from and helped develop program curriculum, helped with homework, organized fun outings for children from parks and nature trails to museums and zoos, and coordinated household chore schedules. I've also assisted with children's laundry, tidying up, and keeping their rooms and play areas neat and organized. I've also managed volunteers and other staff in non-profits and in the film industry. I'm also First Aid/CPR/AED certified and have other training to prevent/recognize child sexual abuse and provide trauma informed care.
I love to explore the outdoors with kids and tap into their creativity! My style is active, playful, warm, loving, inquisitive and firm with set boundaries. I love to explore children's interests and talents and help develop them. I also believe in helping children build empathy and kindness/respect for others.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

performing my music in a greater capacity and continuing to grow as an artist and a person! I'd also like to continue to being an activist and helping to serve underrepresented people, working diligently for causes that matter to me. I hope to continue relationships with children and families I have worked for, even if I'm not still working for them in a full time capacity.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love the outdoors, dogs, music, art and sports, cooking and baking, and I love to help expose children to as many activities as possible, tailoring to their interests. I enjoy being active and creative and helping children develop their talents. I also love to teach and model the importance of social skills and using your voice to advocate for yourself and resolve conflicts. Helping to develop empathy and understanding for all people is a skill I believe all children need to navigate the world.
