About me

As the middle of eight children raised on Long Island, I found myself constantly surrounded by people of all ages. It was very normal to look after my four youngest siblings, along with neighborhood friends and children. As a child, I believed I was so fortunate to always have someone to take a walk with, swim at the beach with, bake cookies with, amongst many other shared activities. Beginning in middle school, I babysat for families within walking distance of my home. I enjoyed it so much that it became my consistent routine throughout my entire school career. In an effort to stay nearby those families that I had built relationships with, I chose to stay local for college and attended Farmingdale State College. This is where I received an Associates of Arts degree. I continued studies in education at the University of North Carolina. It was there that I realized how much I enjoyed and missed working one on one within a family unit. I returned to New York and worked with individual families again and as an instructor at a pre-school. In the years since, I have worked with children of all ages and families of all types. I truly enjoy connecting with children and their family as they grow.

Most recently, I cared for a child as her full time Nanny beginning when she was twelve months and lasted through her sixth year. I transitioned her from bottles to solid foods, went from changing diapers to potty training, and guided her in meeting and exceeding each developmental milestone. In addition to providing a stimulating environment for educating and advancement through each stage of growth; I also managed all child related activities, outings and lessons. Each month I made sure all lessons were scheduled and paid up to date. Before and after any travels, I planned for, packed and unpacked all child related items. As necessary, I shopped for child related clothing, groceries, school uniforms and gifts. I sorted through older clothing and shoes for donation and replaced with updated items. I supervised and assisted with all school assignments.

My CPR & First Aid certification is up to date. I have a basic understanding and comfortability in speaking and understanding spanish. I truly enjoy traveling to different places and being able to share those experiences with the children I care for. Sometimes that same excitement and curiosity that children tend to have, is brought out of us adults when we discover a new place and all it has to offer. I am motivated to continue my work with children as I feel some of their basic needs are an understanding of themselves, patience and love. A highlight of being a Nanny is regularly being around others of all ages and walks of life and connecting, understanding, and bonding with each family and child.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

surrounded by loved ones and working with children. Both of which I find to be rewarding.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I enjoy encouraging children to find their independence. It is incredibly gratifying to witness their pride the first time they complete a task on their own and how accomplished it makes them feel. Some activities become traditions such as baking together, which one of my earliest families I cared for still reminisce about today. I've found that going for walks is also a special time to connect and reflect with children as well. I have helped children learn to speak, learn to read, learn outdoor games such as jump rope and hopscotch, and even simple things like sharing with their siblings.
