About me

I'm a 26-year-old college graduate who recently moved to Manayunk, and I'm looking for a summer position with the potential to continue into the fall. I have been caring for kids since I was 15 years old, first as an afterschool babysitter, and for a total of four summers, as an overnight camp counselor at my childhood camp in Southeastern Pennsylvania. In my time as a camp counselor, I was the head counselor for a group of 8 and 9-year-old girls for seven weeks. My responsibilities included helping both new and returning campers feel at home and thrive for seven weeks away from their families, ensuring campers’ safety and health, and supporting my campers socially and emotionally.
After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis in 2017 with a degree in International Studies, I joined Teach For America as a second-grade teacher in St. Louis, Missouri. I completed an intensive training program to develop the skills and knowledge needed to achieve significant gains in student achievement. I taught second-grade math and reading to a class of 15-20 students in a summer school program run by Teach For America for low-income students in the St. Louis Public School District, under the supervision of a faculty of experienced teachers. During this time, I was engaged in a full schedule of professional and identity development programming, including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, individual and group reflections, readings, and learning teams specific to the teaching license area.
I moved to D. C. to pursue a career in yoga to eventually teach yoga and mindfulness to kids While gaining my yoga certification and completing training, I worked as a nanny for a busy Washington D.C. family, caring for their 5-year-old daughter and sometimes for their 3-year-old son. I assisted the family with household tasks as needed, including laundry and general tidying, as well as preparing meals on weeknights for the family to enjoy together. I have a car and my PA drivers’ license, and I'm more than willing to help with meal prep and other household tasks as needed. I love being outside, taking walks, spending time with my pet cats, and playing or doing arts and crafts with kids.
