About me

Hello! My name is Jo and I am a singer, actress, and nanny based in New York City! I grew up in Kansas and am the oldest of three girls. I loved growing up in a tight knit family in the midwest, but I felt the city calling and moved here to study musical theatre at the Manhattan School of Music. I also studied music education and childhood development in school, and am passionate about the importance of music and storytelling in children’s lives. Since graduation I have been working as a full time nanny, teaching musical theatre camps for kids, auditioning, and finding new hobbies to keep active!

I've always loved and gravitated toward children. I started volunteering at a local nursery and babysitting when I was thirteen years old and have been working with kids ever since! In high school and college I worked as an after school babysitter, weekend babysitter, and summer nanny. My responsibilities included making snacks, homework help, driving the kids to activities, playing, helping with bedtime, and running errands. For the past year and a half I have worked as a full time nanny for two wonderful families. I spent the last two summers in the city nannying two young girls (ages 3 & 5) and we loved to spend our days creating art projects, playing in parks, singing and adventuring. During the school year, I worked with a 7 year old girl and 9 year old boy with autism full time. They were fully remote, and I helped them with zoom school, made meals, played outside, put them to bed, and came up with fun games to keep us entertained during quarantine.

I feel most inspired around young, creative minds and think there is so much to learn from children! I am naturally a caregiver, and love taking care of people and making sure they feel loved and heard. Children are our future, and by being present with them and supporting them, I can't wait to see who they will grow up to be!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

fully supporting myself as a singer, actress, or working artist. I would love to be on a traveling show, work on broadway, or do tv shows. I hope to still be in New York City and possibly be starting my own family and setting down roots in the city.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

creative expression through art, music, singing and dancing. I am trained as a teaching artist and work as a musical theatre teacher and Mommy&Me toddler music teacher. I love having dance parties, singing, coloring, playing outside, and helping your child find what they are passionate about.
