About me

I am a half-Korean, half-Scandinavian middle child of 3 that grew up all over the world. I was raised extremely religious but no longer practice; rather I am just a spiritual soul with an open mind and a positive outlook. From Israel to Germany, then Norway to Hawaii, I have met so many different people and experienced so many different cultures. I spent my school years primarily in Korea and I attended Calvin College for Fine Arts. In high school, I was able to work in with underprivileged children in Russia and Thailand. Since then, I have merged my passion for art with my love for working with children.

In high school, I was an arts and crafts teacher at a camp in Maui for 2 summers (ages 6-9). In college, I was a head counselor at a overnight camp for 2 summers (ages 6-15). After college, I became a private art tutor (ages 5-12). I wanted each child to learn basic techniques and be more confident in their skills. I started nannying a 6 year old girl in 2016. I drove her to school and classes, ran errands, helped with homework, and put her to bed. I watched her until she was 10. After that, I worked as a full-time summer nanny to 2 boys (ages 4 & 6). I helped them with summer workbooks, came up with obstacle courses, did science experiments, brought them to the park, and played in their pool and sandbox. I then started caring for a 22 month old boy and moved to NY with them. I currently bring him to classes, organize play dates, put him down for naps, change diapers, and help with learning. My current family has a newborn that I help with when needed. I also helped my sister bring up her 3 girls from birth. In the summer I can help with swimming as I am an avid swimmer and I am CPR and first aid certified for infants, children, and adults. I can speak some Korean and Spanish, and English is my native language.

My own sense of wonder and imaginative mind help me connect with children and I share their excitement for life. I am constantly looking for new ways to raise children and aid in their development. I find that most behaviors can be curbed without the use of spankings, yelling, or punishments and employ the gentle parenting technique. I am empathetic and understanding at heart, as well as generally optimistic. I find these characteristics, coupled with experience, lend themselves to making me a great nanny! Children deserve someone who is sweet, loving, and kind, yet firm and guiding- I think that is me!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Possibly a mother! Definitely a better version of myself!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Arts and crafts is my favorite thing to do with children and I love incorporating science into some of the projects we do. I encourage all children I care for to play using their imaginations as much as possible. I love taking kids outdoors and teaching them how to appreciate nature.
