About me

As a high school student in New York City, I remember wanting to find a job to do after school. I applied to an after-school tutoring position at a non-profit called Breakthrough when I was 15, which ignited my passion for working with children. When I wasn’t tutoring or in school, I would explore the city with my younger sister. My community at Breakthrough encouraged me to go to Vanderbilt University to pursue teaching. Once I moved to Nashville for school, I had a variety of teaching experiences and loved seeing what life was like outside of New York. I finished my undergrad with a degree in Education Studies, and I am now earning my masters in Elementary Education at Teachers College. I am thrilled to have moved back to New York and to be closer to my family.

Over the past eight years, I have served as a tutor, camp counselor, babysitter, application coach, mentor, teacher, and childcare provider. In high school, I worked with a family who had three girls in elementary school and was a pinch sitter for several other families. I am an expert in bedtime stories and helping homework get done. I also meal prep and have cared for dogs, cats and bunnies. For two summers, I was the Head Counselor for my high school’s summer camp, which served girls ages 5-13. In college, I had more teaching experiences. I have planned and taught 7th grade writing and art for two summers, and also completed practicums for elementary reading, math, and science. As a reading tutor and childcare provider in Nashville, I have worked with toddlers and pre-teens who have disabilities. Now I am halfway through my licensure program at Teachers College and can’t wait to be an elementary education teacher.

As a creative and empathic person, I love drawing, cooking, listening to music, or playing outside. I have a very joyful attitude towards life which has helped me thrive in this profession. Through teaching, I learn new things every day. My childcare philosophy is to help children embrace their unique qualities and to hold space for their emotions. I value handling conflicts restoratively rather than punitively. New York is home to me, and I can't wait to reconnect with families here.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

leading an organization that works to make the school environment and culture more restorative. I also hope to be the author and illustrator of a children's series. My favorite dog is a corgi, so I would love to be a corgi-mom by then too!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

include reading, baking, drawing, arts & crafts, scrabble and other board games. I also like going to the park or museums. Having grown up in New York and worked as a camp counselor, I feel very comfortable bringing children to different activities or playdates around the city.
