About me

When I was in high school, a family friend asked me to come over and babysit her three wonderful children. The eldest who was six at the time, had epilepsy and related neurological delays. I had always loved music, but seeing how she opened up to me - clapping her hands, brushing her teeth just to hear me keep singing "the brushing teeth song" I made up on the spot - was a pivotal moment for me. I knew then that I wanted to use my music to help other kids open up to the world as L had.

Since that time, I have worked as an assistant music teacher, children's religious services director, a babysitter, a camp counselor, a special needs aide, and a nanny for several different families. When working with children and families, I work hard to create a welcoming, nurturing environment for them, as well as ensuring that the family's schedule stays on task and on time. I am always simultaneously a homework tutor, a dinner cook, a soother of tears, and a friend in whatever the imaginary game is of the day - and, of course, I'm always singing songs to make the kitchen and the house bright.

I am also a writer and very imaginative myself, so I love to get down on the floor and engage with the kids, playing games with them. I am currently working on my first novel, probably YA. As for music, I play five instruments - piano, flute, guitar, recorder, and professional voice - and I have a background in Jewish education. I would be thrilled to help tutor any children in my care in any of these skills.

What I look forward to most of all is sharing the gift of music with the children under my care, and helping them open up to the world, seeing that light in their eyes is the reason why I want to be a nanny.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Music! I love to make the kitchen a happier and cozier place with cooking songs, make brushing-teeth time go a little smoother with music, and bedtime soothing for children with lullabies. Music can ramp kids up to get them excited and going in the morning, or soothe and relax them when it's time to go to sleep. I love to incorporate it into my care and share my joy in it!
