About me

Hello, my name is Alexis and I am 21 years old. I am from California and recently moved to New York for a nanny position. I have two siblings, an older brother and younger sister. Growing up, we attended a babysitting facility while my mother worked and the family that helped raise us became our extended family. This is exactly why I enjoy working with children and their families, to help and create that special bond. I am attending San Francisco State University, graduating with my bachelors in criminal justice/ law in December 2021. I am in pursuit of becoming a lawyer. I am also a certified behavior technician who has experience working with children with autism.

I have worked with children for 5 years. From ages 6 months to 8 years old. I am currently a live-in nanny in Long Island. I care for three children, twins (girl and boy) who are 3 years old and a 7-year-old girl. My duties for this family is to wake the kids up, get them dressed for school, prepare breakfast, pet care, prepare their snacks and lunches for school, and take them to the bus stop. One child stays home, so I create engaging activities for her that are fun but also educational like alphabet worksheets or numbers, coloring, as well as play time outside. One of the children has autism so since I am a certified behavior technician, I provide ABA services for him once he returns from school. Once the kids are all back I bathe them and prepare dinner for them, make sure their rooms are clean and laundry is done before sending them to bed. I am CPR certified and vaccinated!

When I started working with children, I completely fell in love with how us as adults are shaping children to be the caring and strong person we want them to be. I love taking part in helping any child achieve their goals and grow in life. During this I decided to take a further step and work with children with autism and became a behavior technician. All children deserve love and care and I am more than willing to go out of my way to help families and their children with the challenges autism brings. Overall it is the most rewarding thing I have ever done.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Graduating law school and becoming a lawyer. I aspire to apply to law schools in New York which will be my new home. I am exploring my options in either becoming a criminal defense attorney or a family lawyer. Very excited and determined to pursue my dreams!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

There are many things I love to teach children like educational values, manners, sharing, peer interaction, new games. One huge one for me is communication. Learning to communicate effectively is not a simple task. To become competent communicators, children benefit from language-rich environments. The richness of the language environment in children's homes is linked to children's language and literacy skills. Likewise, the school environment can be a powerful force in helping children learn to communicate.
