About me

I'm a native New Yorker, and I grew up an only child on the Upper East Side. I loved growing up in the city, because it allowed me to explore all of my interests to the fullest extent. My parents took me to theater starting at the age of 3, and I quickly fell in love with performance. I ended up going to LaGuardia High School for classical vocal performance, and later attending college for theater. Additionally, I was able to explore interests that weren't performance related, like martial arts. I earned my black belt in Mixed Martial Arts at 15. I was (and still am) a big reader, and I would make frequent trips to the Strand. Growing up in the city made me into a well-rounded artist, and I am so grateful to have had those experiences. It is that kind of background that enables me to share my New York with a family. I know the best spots in the Met for a child, and also the best playgrounds in Central Park. I'm able to really join a child in imaginative play, or introduce them to something new and fun.

I have been a date night sitter, an after school pick up, a child wrangler, a playground buddy, and a storyteller. I have worked with kids between the ages of 1-12. In my last job, I worked with a 4 year old boy with sensory processing issues, and I was able to learn how to guide him through speech therapy and physical therapy. I'm also currently occasionally looking after two sisters (5 and 3). With them, I'll make dinner, bathe them, and have lots of story time (I'm told my Fancy Nancy voice is excellent!). I've changed diapers, and I've introduced kids to their first Disney movies. Whatever the job, I'm a problem solver at heart, and I love the challenge of keeping a child engaged.

Being able to shape a child's first understanding of their world is such a special position to be in, and it's that feeling that keeps me coming back to childcare. Remaining adaptable to a child's needs is at the core of my philosophy. From running around as the tickle monster, to quietly reading a story, being able to match the energy they're giving me is always the goal.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

happy and fulfilled. As a theater worker, the last year and a half has been scary and uncertain, but I'm excited to see where I fit into the industry as we begin to rebuild. Ideally, I'd love to be able to fully support myself with my art.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

are music and storytelling! As a theater person and a musician, I love introducing children to new music. At my last job, we would have dance parties to Beatles music. That 4 year old boy had never listened to the Beatles before, and it was amazing to watch it become his favorite thing to listen to. Having a little dance party is often the perfect remedy if something doesn't pan out!
