About me
Hi! My name is Kristin. I grew up in Virginia and North Carolina and I am the youngest of four. As a child I was always making a mess! I loved any sort of craft, and that has definitely followed me through to now. I do clean up after myself now! In high school I was dual-enrolled at a high school and community college to receive my associates degree after my four years of high school. The school was called Challenger Early College High School, and it was a challenge but it was worth it! I did this so I could move to New York upon graduation to begin my career as a actor. My love for kids grew through my connection with theatre.
I have worked with kids for 5 years now, primarily as a teacher. I have taught kids ranging the ages of 5-17 different subjects related to theatre such as tap, improv, voice, ballet, etc. This ignited my desire to be around kids and to be a small part of their growth. I have also watched kids as a part-time babysitter, date-night sitter, and I also make an amazing tutor. Lots of my caregiving jobs are for when the parents needed me, not particularly a scheduled thing. I called myself an on-call sitter.
My passion is creating. Like I mentioned earlier I am an actor and also an avid crafter. I think this is a great combo to have with kids. I am quick on my feet and can come up with something fun to do at any time of the day. One of the most important things about childcare is knowing that no two kids are the same. You can't teach multiple kids the exact same way, and why would you want to? recognizing what a child needs to get to the next step is a great trait I learned through teaching. It's important to keep kids safe, guide them along the way, but also to let them soar and figure things out on their own.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
- Twins
- Multiples
In 5 years, I hope to be...
Fully supporting myself through acting.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
Sewing, singing, dancing, acting, and I always encourage kids to follow their dreams. It can be hard, and you have to be smart about it, but if someone's going to be an astronaut, movie star, president, etc. then why not you?
