About me

I grew up the eldest of 3 children in Boston, MA. My younger brother is now 21 and my little (half) sister just turned 11. I graduated with my B.A. in Psychology and minors in education and public health from American University in 2019. The year after my graduation, I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA, working on a child mental health initiative funded by Boston Children’s Hospital focusing on addressing mental health concerns of underserved communities. After this, I began working at my current position as a teaching assistant at a special needs school.
Growing up as the eldest child, nurture, patience and roll modeling were in my toolkit from day 1. I babysat for a family friends’ 2 year old when I was 13, after taking a babysitter course provided by the red cross. Responsibilities included feeding, changing, and playing with her for a few hours during the day while mom ran out. I babysat for a set of 8 year old twins, handling similar responsibilities while also helping with school work and dinner prep and for another 10 year old girl for several years during high school. I became a junior counselor at the summer camp I had attended as a child and worked with the youngest age group there. In college, I began tutoring at an after school program my freshman fall and continued to tutor at different sites through the end of my senior year, with the exception of my junior spring which I spent studying abroad. During my college summers, I was a camp counselor at a nature camp, accepting more responsibilities each year before booming assistant director during my final summer. I am CPR, AED and First Aid certified for both infants and children.
My sister and I love to craft, play games and bake. Growing up as a big sister lead to me always being in role model mode and is something of which I’m quite proud and feel lucky to have been able to experience. Children really are the future and adults in their lives can have such a big impact on their development and who they will become as people. I’m always a big proponent of having better people in the world, those who are loving and patient and kind and I hope to be that influence on all the children I work with.
