About me

I grew up in small town in Connecticut, where I discovered my love of sailing and being on the water. I was an adventurous and active child, but as the oldest of 3 children, I have also always been " the responsible one" - helping out around the house and watching over my siblings when my parents worked full time. I am a student at Bucknell University where I am pursuing my Bachelor's degree and working as a teaching assistant at a private K-12 school in Cambridge, MA - as I have discovered my passion truly lies in working with children!

While my experience in childcare starts with looking after my siblings, I also spent many of my high school and college years babysitting. While at boarding school, I spent a lot of time caring for children of faculty, and doing lots of babysitting in my hometown when home for holidays and summers. My experience ranges from caring for children after school (driving children to/from activities, playing, cooking meals/snacks, and helping out with cleaning where needed) to date-night sitting (cooking dinner, bedtime routines) to full-time overnight sitting while parents were away. I have cared for a variety of families, including 4 children all under the age of 7, 2 children ages 3 & 5, and 3 children ages 3,7, and 11.

I spent four summers working as a sailing instructor for children ages 5-16, which is what my passion for teaching and caring for children stems from. I saw firsthand how children are our future, and teaching them lifelong skills and values is one of the most important things we can do. I approach childcare with energy, creativity, and positivity!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

standing in my very own classroom as an elementary school teacher! I hope to instill my love of learning in my students. I am currently working as a 1st and 2nd grade teaching assistant, and have am teaching my own Spanish classes. Hopefully in 5 years I will still be doing what I love, but with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in my pocket!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I am a very creative person. I enjoy drawing/crafts, but also baking and cooking! Doing creative activities with children is always enjoyable for me. I also like being outside with children and encouraging active play. My favorite thing to do with children, however, is read with them! Sitting down and reading a book, whether it's a picture book or a longer chapter book, is always a valuable experience!
