About me
Hello! My name is Clara. I’m a theatre director and recent Brooklynite. A little bit about me: I grew up in New Jersey before graduating from Kenyon College with a degree in drama.
I have diverse experience working with kids ages 18 months through high school. I have extensive experience babysitting but have also worked as a camp counselor (pre-school ages), theatre educator, SAT test proctor, and resident advisor for three years during college. In my professional theatre work I have worked with kids in my capacities as an assistant director and child supervisor. I worked as a date night sitter for a family of two boys (pre school - early elementary school) throughout high school. I would play lots of games and legos, prepare dinner, help them get ready for bed, read and put them to bed. I worked as a date night sitter again after college for a family with a kindergartener and had similar responsibilities. Most recently, I babysat for a family of early elementary aged kids doing after school support. I took the kids to the playground, prepared lunch and played make believe games.
Growing up I attended Montessori schools that valued play, curiosity and teaching to the individual pace of each child, and I’ve carried these values into my childcare and education work since. My experience in theatre has also taught me to be patient and to listen and I bring these skills with me into my childcare work and beyond.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
In 5 years, I hope to be...
Writing and directing theatre professionally.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love to play outside, play make believe, do crafts and puzzles, and I am slowly improving upon my lego skills!
