About me

Aloha! My name is Maya, and I'm a performer/childcare provider from Kailua, Hawaii. I grew up running around the beach with my younger sister and many younger cousins. I graduated from Hofstra University with high honors and a degree in Theatre. Since graduating, I've worked primarily in children's Theatre, using storytelling as a way to promote literacy.
   Since I was a kid, I've worked with kids, watching my sister and cousins as the built-in family babysitter. While in high school and college, I served as a Teaching Assistant in the English, Social Studies, and Theatre departments. I primarily worked with high school-aged kids, helping them to think critically and write with precision and honesty. Since graduating college, I've traveled all over California with a professional children's Theatre, bringing educational stories to pre-K and up kids! I've recently worked as a part-time babysitter for a family with two girls, ages 4 and 11. I would take them to the park to the scooter, the pool, or the beach, prepare meals, pick them up from school, provide homework help, handle bath time, and play with lots of stuffed unicorn toys! I also served as a date night sitter for this family's COVID bubble, watching kids ages 2 through 11, up to 6 kids at a time. I am Infant, and Child CPR certified.
  Honesty and creativity are essential values of mine in my art, and kids have both of those qualities in spades! I strive to create a safe environment where children can confidently explore their creativity and have fun! Children constantly inspire and motivate me whenever I'm working with them.
