About me
I'm a theatre maker, an art lover, and an advocate for social justice! As a teaching artist working with middle and elementary school students, I am so grateful for the chance to use my skills in acting, writing, comedy, and dance to help young people develop their own talents, have fun, and learn more.
I love working with children of all ages, and I'm great at facilitating and encouraging engagement with a variety of activities - both artistic and sports based. I love to use dance, story, and theatre games both as ways to rev up and have fun, and also to unwind and get focused. In my approach to childcare, I listen deeply and model respectful behavior. I hold structures and boundaries firmly while also explaining the 'why' to children, helping them understand cause and effect and their own agency in an age appropriate way.
I'm originally from California, but moved to New York to pursue my dreams of directing theatre. I then found myself in a wonderful graduate program that gave me expertise in theatre education and community building. I'm now working as a yoga teacher, teaching artist, and community based director.
I love exploring my colorful Brooklyn neighborhood, riding my bike in the park and to the beach, practicing yoga and volunteering at my yoga studio, Third Root Community Health Center, and cooking meals with farmers market and CSA veggies. I also volunteer with The Anti-Violence Project and strive to be actively involved in artistic projects that bring visibility to marginalized populations. I keep myself busy, but find it really important to cultivate balance by making time for relaxation and being with friends and family.
