About me
I grew up in a suburb of Denver, Colorado with two older siblings. I always loved reading, doing anything artistic, and being in choir! I was also in Girl Scouts from kindergarten to senior year of high school! I studied Mass Communications and English at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, and graduated with a Bachelor of Art degree. I decided to move to New York City after I graduated from school and immediately started working as an assistant toddler teacher at a KinderCare Learning Center in Manhattan. My interests that I’ve had since childhood definitely carried into this job, as I love constantly singing songs with the kids, getting them interested in reading, and helping them learn artistic skills like how to draw and paint.
During high school, I spent a lot of time babysitting and nannying a variety of ages, from newborn infants to kids entering middle school. During college, I started working seasonally as a classroom floater at a childcare center near Denver. At this job I provided child and infant care in a variety of classrooms (ages 3 months to 5 years), which included helping lead teachers with diaper changes, meals/feedings, nap times, and creating/teaching age-appropriate activities for the children in each classroom. In my current job as a toddler teacher, I enforce a similar daily schedule for my classroom in regards to nap times, meal times, and diaper changes. I also work with the other teachers to implement the Kindercare curriculum through fun activities for the kids, and help the kids each day with learning helpful socialization skills in interacting with one another and adults. (I’m also always there for hugs and laughs!)
I believe working with kids is one of the most fulfilling jobs out there! For me, its a privilege to be apart of their development and to be able to watch them grow into their own individual selves! It’s so rewarding when I see something click in a kids head - remembering the hand motions to a song, saying “thank you” without being asked - and being a part of process is something I love! Nothing brightens up my day more than when I can smile and laugh with the kids I work with.
