About me
I grew up in a small town on the border of Quebec, Canada in Vermont with one younger brother, 2 loving parents, and 8 cousins. Once I was old enough I started babysitting in my neighborhood. I went to a very small high school called Bellows Free Academy followed by a small liberal arts school in Maine where I graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Education. Over the summers I worked in various camp settings and after graduation, I taught in an early intervention program for children with autism and received highly specialized training. Shortly after that I moved to a new area and began teaching in various preschools, daycares as well as a kindergarten class.
In 2011 I was offered my first nanny position and I have been a nanny ever since. I consider myself an engaging, compassionate, professional career nanny. Through my 11+ years of being a nanny for kids aged infant through 10 years in both live-in and live-out positions, I have become highly skilled in toddler and school-aged care. I have experience with multiples, and severe allergies, know basic baby signs, have special needs experience, and have extensive knowledge of developmental milestones, procedures, techniques, and activities to foster physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. I understand that discretion and privacy are of the utmost importance and have worked as a household manager. I'll help with pet care, home maintenance, and repairs, keeping the house stocked and supplied, and running errands on top of all childcare-related duties. I have a valid passport, am a strong swimmer, and safety oriented. I also have a valid license and am confident driving both in and out of the city. I take pride in the relationships I have formed with my charges and believe it’s important to guide and help them become whoever they want to be. I believe in having fun and going on adventures but know when it’s time to buckle down and can be firm when it’s appropriate.
I value time outside in nature learning about animals, bugs, history, science etc... and nothing brings me greater joy than experiencing all the things this city has to offer through the lens of a child.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Twins
- Multiples
- Special Needs
In 5 years, I hope to be...
Happy as a nanny with a family that values and respects me.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love teaching children about the natural wonders of the world like the planets and tides and fascinating facts about historical places, people, and events. My love of nature always rubs off on the littles I care for and I do my best to foster a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world we live in. It's also important to me that the children I am with learn how to be conscientious and thoughtful members of society and understand that all the different kinds of people in the world are important and valuable in their own unique ways.
