About me

Hello! I'm Sarai.

I'm the oldest of 2 girls, but also the oldest of 18 grandchildren therefore, being patient and nurturing has always come naturally for me. I believe it helped mold me into who I am as a caregiver today. In high school, I volunteered at my mom’s job as an after-school helper, where I helped teachers in their classroom as well as volunteering to help the Spanish-speaking parents in my community, and interning at my local hospital.

I started my very first job in childcare as a YMCA summer camp/after-school counselor, and while I enjoyed working with all of the children in my care, what I took most to heart was working with children with special needs. This job gave me some of the first tools to work with children who have developmental disabilities, so I can help them thrive, which I'm really grateful for. I actually also initially went to school to study Education, with the hopes of working in Special Ed someday, but I soon decided that my greatest passion was being a nanny.

The YMCA gave me the “fast-paced environment” experience which I then implemented when I decided to take on my first nanny role. I’ve had the pleasure of nannying for numerous wonderful families, ages newborn to 9 years old. In addition to traditional childcare responsibilities, in previous positions, I've enjoyed going above and beyond with responsibilities such as: taking the children to therapy appointments and being their "adult in the room", facilitating meal prep, children's laundry, grocery shopping, organizing children's designated play areas, setting up play dates, and making sure to be in communication with the other house staff to see that they have all the tools they need. I've worked with children with special needs in nanny settings as well, and I really enjoy doing so!

Childcare truly is a fulfilling role, and I believe my ability to be empathetic as well as my strong communication skills help create a safe space. As a nanny I understand the role also has a huge impact on the children I care for. So I always work on leading by example. By nurturing confident, intelligent and kind people.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I enjoy reading a good book, learning new dishes and trying them out. I love swimming and learning about new music. As well as attending museums and appreciating the art. So when working with children I try to share all my interests as well as learning theirs.
