About me

My name is Jessica and I have vast experience in snuggling infants and toddlers! I was born in the sunny state of Florida and grew up in the enchanted island of Puerto Rico! As a child growing up in a multicultural island full people who embrace their ancestors I became fascinated by history. My 2nd grade history teacher was theatrical, musical, a storyteller, puppeteer, hands-on, and artistic. Not only did she teach us, she made us genuinely engage with the material. This sparked curiosity and wonder in me, and a joy for helping students. It was then I decided I wanted to be a teacher! I have an Associates in early childhood education, a Bachelors in child study-early childhood education from St. Joseph's College NY, and currently working on my master degree online in education. I have loved learning about different philosophies and theories. I did many papers and student teaching in different schools including Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Progressive Education, Waldorf Education, play based.

I really enjoy taking care of children. I have mainly worked with 0-10 year olds as a nanny and teacher. My most recent work experience include part time nanny care a few families with infants and toddlers. I love to stimulate their development and encourage curiosity. I have worked as a nanny with many American, European and Korean families. They were all a beautiful unique experiences. I really cherished everything that I learned and the great bonds I created with the families. Culture and language are really important to me and I would love to incorporate any language and activities relating to your culture into my care for your children. I have also worked as a full-time Reggio Emilia Infant- Toddler teacher in NY and full-time teacher at a Spanish immersion preschool. I have worked with hundreds of families babysitting as well.

I am looking for a position in NJ /NY where I can utilize my knowledge of early childhood and my loving nature. I really enjoy working with little ones and my favorite part is witnessing milestones. Each milestone is amazing to witness and celebrate. I really like doing art activities and taking children for nature walks. Upon request, I am happy to integrate baby sign language and Spanish into daily activities and any key words in the family's culture. I also love creating many art-sensory activities to help infants and toddlers explore the world around them sensory bags/bottles, using nature to create art, and more! I can create a fun, developmentally appropriate learning environment, provide milestones reports, keep daily log of activities, and most importantly give the child lots of love and care. I encourage children to be creative, think use their imagination, explore the world use their words, and be kind and thoughtful.

The phrase "To every child—I dream of a world where you can laugh, dance, sing, learn, live in peace and be happy" really touches my heart. It reminds me that children are going to be the next creators of our world and that we are their teachers. My goal is to help children create a more loving and peaceful world for all of us.

My certifications: CPR and First-aid, NAEYC -DAP: Focus on Infants and Toddlers, Infant Brain Development, Preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome, Preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Promoting Safe Sleeping, Managing Challenging Behavior: 0- to 36 months, Keeping Children Safe: Prevention of Lead Poisoning, Foundations in Health and safety, Infectious control.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to be wiser and just as happy. I see myself working full-time with children as nanny or educational setting. I would also like to become a part time online or weekend professor for early childhood education major, to inspire future teachers and caregivers.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

If Mary Poppins had twin it would be me, I love to bring my bag full of surprises. The first time I babysit children they are surprised to see the things I have brought, the second time and so on their eyes sparkle and they are thrilled to see me as their eyes Pierce my "magical bag". My goal is to entertain Children with developmentally appropiate activities. I encourage process art and crafts to help them to think beyond any lines and to use different art media. I also utilize singing, and movement. The key is combining them with literacy and math to. I also help children learn self help skills , self regulate and social and emotional skills. I appreciate to have a mini budget from parents to create fun educational projects with children base on their interest. Interest-base and play base are my go to, I believe children learn better if they are happy.
