About me

I grew up as the youngest of three girls in Miami, Florida as a part of a large Cuban family. My mother was one of eight children, so I was always surrounded by cousins of all ages; I learned my childcare skills while growing up myself. In Hispanic households, you jump in wherever needed for cooking, cleaning, and childcare. In my family, we joked that our parents all had the first round of kids so that we could raise the second! All that to say, I'm very comfortable in a busy household. I’ve used this skillset to work with children in many different capacities, such as part-time sitter, camp counselor, teacher, and nanny.

I graduated in May of 2020 with a degree in Theatre Arts from Boston University; while studying I worked in the theater industry, primarily for The Public Theater & The New York Shakespeare Festival. Since graduating I’ve mainly worked in childcare in both Boston & New York. At the beginning of the pandemic, when my schooling became remote, I was able to supplement the rest of my time by starting full-time childcare positions. I became a full-time nanny for first-time parents of a two-month-old baby boy! I got to help them set a schedule for the baby that incorporated enrichment activities, tummy time, and sleep training; as well as managing light housekeeping. Since then, I have begun working part-time for a family with two young girls ages four and seven. I’ve been keeping them engaged during quarantine with various crafts and activities and helping with schoolwork when their school is remote. I also take them on outings frequently, museums, play dates, the park, etc. while observing social distancing and ensuring they wear their masks and stay safe. I would love to work in this capacity for a family full time!

Along with my passion for childcare, I enjoy creating art in various forms and I love to share that with children when possible. I speak Spanish and have studied ASL, so I am comfortable incorporating baby sign into my everyday work with children, as well as other language skills. I make my own sensory kits for toddlers as well as practice exercises that build emotional awareness for kids and it is amazing to watch them bloom with these kinds of enrichment tools. It may seem cliche but I believe it takes a village to raise a child; with that in mind, I’m more than happy to jump in and support a family in whatever way they need.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In five years I hope to be on my journey of becoming a foster parent to kids in foster care and learning techniques for trauma-informed parenting. Becoming a foster parent is something I have always felt called to do and in five years I hope to be gathering the skills to make a reality in the long term.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love incorporating Spanish into my vocabulary with children because it is amazing how quickly they pick up on new languages. I also like bringing in activities that engage their senses and emotional awareness. I am also great at arts and crafts that go beyond the simple "turkey handprint" and move deeper into the elements of art and design I learned in school myself.
