About me

My name is Shana and I am from the beautiful island of Saint Lucia, which is located in the Caribbean. I am the last of a large family of nine. I have five brothers and three sisters. Growing up I cared for my eight nieces and nephews while my siblings worked. I attended Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School where I represented my school in track and field, and various sports. I then went to Sir Author Lewis Community College and studied tourism. Afterwards I worked as a receptionist and reservationist. While working at the hotel I babysat for the guest so they could explore the night life of the island. I moved to New Jersey in 2013 to work so I would be able to financially care for my daughter.

I found employment with two amazing families, the first was from Long Island. I worked as a live-in nanny caring for two brilliant boys. When I began working with the family the boys were eight months and two years. When I left the boys were three and a half and six years. The second family was from Tribeca and I worked as a live- out nanny. I cared for for one boy, age eight months when I started and four when I left. My daily duties for the families included preparing healthy, balanced meals, doing laundry and tidying up common areas, and helping the boys with early childhood education, story time, dancing, sing along and crafts. I also took the boys to the park, planned playdates, and took them to after school activities. I helped the kids with homework, school assignments, and online classes. I attended a Red Cross class for CPR, AED and First Aid certification and recently got my certification renewed. I also did an Advance Child Care Training Course to help with better understanding and caring for children. I enjoy being a nanny because it's an honor to be and integral part of a child's life and help them achieve each milestone.
