About me

Growing up in Plainfield, New Jersey with a father who is a former professional athlete, a healthy lifestyle and physical activity was prominent in my household. My 8 siblings and I were cared for by both of our parents as well as a full-time, live-in nanny. Between elementary and high school I swam competitively, ran track, danced, and played football, basketball. After high school, I went on to work in fashion production and editorial. Upon joining the United States Navy I trained as an Aviation Structural Mechanic in Safety Equipment. Being part of the United States Navy and traveling all over the world for four years taught me discipline, confidence, adaptability, and resourcefulness.

Looking back on my childhood I can appreciate the role my live-in nanny had in my life. She created a safe, disciplined, educational and imaginative environment for us to grow and develop into our individual personalities. Her care for my siblings and me is what influences me in my interactions with children. At the age of 13, my mother recognized in me a desire to care for and help others. I began tutoring children 6-7 years old. In my sophomore year, I began working at an after-school program where I started as a group leader for 20 first and second graders. Eventually, I was promoted to Program Director at our satellite location where I oversaw programming for more than 50 children ages 6-13. I was also a babysitter for newborns through five-year-olds and did 1 on 1 tutoring for children ages 6-13. After my time working in the after-school program, I moved towards private in-home care for a family of 4. My duties for the 9-13-year-olds included homework help, outdoor activities, reading time, light cooking, collective light cleaning, and help with school events. Following that I was a swim instructor for the summer, teaching water safety to children 6 months 8 years old. From there I worked as a part-time nanny for 2-month-old twin girls. I was responsible for keeping their eating and sleeping schedules, and engaging them in age-appropriate activities including but not limited to; tummy time, reading, singing, and mat time to help them reach developmental milestones.

The safe and nurturing environment in which I was raised gave me the confidence to step out on my own and pursue adventure and self-discovery while knowing I would always have people in my life to return to. No matter what direction I head in life, I know that I carry with me the wisdom, strength, and knowledge from those who help raise me. My hope when working with families is that I can provide the same care, love, and support that will nurture the children’s individual personalities, interests, and strengths. By sharing my own interests and hobbies with children, I hope to open doors for them to experience the world in a new way.
