About me

Hi all! My name is Raisa. I grew up in Queens, New York and still reside in Queens to this day. I come from an Indonesian immigrant family, and I have one older brother who is on the spectrum. I have my Bachelors of Art in Psychology from the City College of New York, and I intend on going to graduate school to study speech language pathology. Ever since I started volunteering at a preschool when I was 16 years old, I found a love and passion in working with children. I have been working with children ever since, and hope to do so in the future.
I was first exposed to working with children when I landed a job at a Montessori preschool. Over the course of seven years, I've had multiple roles which consisted of me being a substitute teacher, a summer camp teacher, and an assistant teacher. Responsibilities included instructing classrooms that varied in ages from infancy through early childhood, creating lesson plans, making progress reports, communicating with families, and other duties such as basic care and clean up. Aside from my preschool experience, I have babysat for numerous families. Many of my families were from the preschools I have worked at, and others I had found through connections, or babysitting websites such as Sitter City. Prior to the pandemic, I nannied a three year old girl from Brooklyn. This job included picking her up from school, preparing snack and meals, participating in arts and crafts, giving her baths, putting her to sleep, and taking her to playdates, classes, the park, and the museum. My most recent job was nannying a two year old boy. This job included changing diapers, potty training, preparing snacks and meals, putting him down for a nap, and taking him to classes, the park, the zoo, and the museum.
Outside of my passion in working with kids, I love doing fun and interesting things. I consider myself to be a very adventurous and curious individual. I love traveling, eating, but sometimes will enjoy staying at home and binge watching Netflix and Disney Plus. Many people around me describe me as a kid at heart, but what better than to work with kids when you, yourself are a kid at heart!
