About me

As a kid, I always knew I wanted to perform. I loved to put on little shows for my family, create skits with my older brother and our stuffed animals, and was often caught singing in the shower. I grew up taking voice lessons, dance classes, being in the school shows, doing the school news casts, and show choir. This all resulted in me wanting to pursue my dream of being an actor/singer, so I attended James Madison University and graduated with a BA in Musical Theatre.

I grew up in Maryland, and have been working with children since my first older cousin had a baby when I was 17. I’m the youngest of 7 grandchildren, so I have grown up looking after and caring for my cousin’s children since they started having them. I have baby sat for them at all ages changing their diapers, helping with potty problems, managing tantrums, and how to cope with being bullied in middle school, with the oldest now being 12.
I have been a camp counselor for a theater camp, a teaching artist with a professional theater company, and an English teacher to children in China with VIP kid.

Over the years I have baby sat more consistently for two families. One family has two children at the ages of 10 and 7 and the other has 2 girls who are now 9 and 12. The 7 year old boy has severe muscle dystrophy, can barely walk, falls a lot, is very hard to understand, is still in diapers, but still manages to have fun. For all of these kiddos I was responsible for greeting them home from school, snack time, homework, outdoor time, possible bath time, dinner time, getting ready for bed, and tucking in. I had similar responsibilities with the girls, but with the additional duty of driving them around if needed and giving them voice lessons to prepare for auditions. We would go on little field trips, I'd drop them off at play dates, & sometimes had to drive them to their parents.

Since I love to perform, I love to communicate. This is what draws me into childcare, because children are ALWAYS communicating in new & exciting ways. I always care for children with respect and like they’re their own person, because well...they are! I hope to get to know you’re kiddos and look forward to helping them grow.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

A mom, with a husband, a cat, a dog, and in a career that I love and am proud of!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach kids how to express themselves through song, crafts, and other artistic outlets. I also love problem solving with kids on how to navigate life by asking them important questions when making choices...even as small as what to eat for a snack!
