About me
I grew up in Portland Oregon as the middle child of three, and only girl. I have always loved caring for children and have been babysitting since I was old enough to be left alone with small children. My passion for connecting with children lead me to study child development and earn a degree from Brigham Young University in Family Studies.
I have been babysitting for over half of my life in many different positions. As a date-night babysitter for many different families for children aged 3 months to 12+ years. My responsibilities included playing with the children, feeding dinner, cleaning up, and putting the children to bed. These families had anywhere from 1 to 5 children that I would be responsible for for a couple of hours. I also was a nanny through college for a family with 4 kids aged 8-16 and my responsibilities included driving to and from school, helping with homework, meal prep and cooking, cleaning up, laundry, taking to activities such as museums and bowling alleys. I also have experience with 24/7 care. Also in college there was a family I worked with that would go on vacations or work trips and leave me with the 5 children aged 2-12 for many days at a time. I would be in charge of all care and cleaning while they were away.
I lived in Albania for 1.5 years for a service mission and I speak Albanian. I also took American Sign Language in college and have experience teaching and using it with infants.
I love to work with children and help them to explore and understand their world in a safe and developmentally appropriate way. I think that it is so important as a care giver to give undivided attention and also to allow them to work through problems on their own with support as needed. As children have the proper support network and feel safe they are able to flourish and grow in all aspects of their lives.
