About me

I grew up in the suburbs of Brazil and moved to the USA right after I finished High School. I wanted to pursue a career related with children, health, and education since my passion and love was always related to working with children. I am the younger child and I have one older brother who is a musician and plays the guitar. I grew up loving to dance jazz, ballet and appreciating arts and music.

I’m a very active person who loves to exercise, to travel, and to explore new things. When I was a child, I used to love to be creative along with my brother and my cousins. We didn’t have IPads in that time which gave me an opportunity to explore my inner creativity and initiative. We built kites and we built our own tree houses in our backyards which enhanced my passion and curiosity to work in education, and further, it adds up as a great quality in my character to work with children. I entered college back in 2008 to study pre-Nursing and with the intent to specialize in the Pediatric field and always care for the little ones. After many years of study in the health field I changed my major to Community Health, which gave me the opportunity to work and volunteer as a teacher assistant around my community helping and encouraging children ages 8 to 14 years old at Washington Heights Academy to enhance their curiosity in sciences and education.

I’ve been working as a Nanny since I graduated from High School. I’ve been flexible and active working long days and hours, dedicating my care for newborns, toddlers and pre-teens all these years. I can say that it’s been a wonderful and rewarding experience to be able to raise and to nurture these beautiful children. I worked for six years for a lovely family in Manhattan. The children were 2 and 5 years old when I first started and I raised them until the oldest child turned 12 years old. I used to go pick them up from school, take them to extracurricular activities, help them with homework, and to read books to the youngest child for at least 25 minutes every day after school since he was still learning how to write and read. I encouraged them to make their own beds and organize their materials for school. I made and served them dinner, supervised bath times and got them ready for bed before parents came home. We used to take little trips to the Natural History Museum and the Central Park Zoos during breaks in the summertime. I made sure that the apartment was always clean and tidy after kids were done with dinner, so the parents wouldn’t have to worry about that after a long day of work.

I also worked with a family in Hoboken, New Jersey, and I cared for their newborn baby boy until he turned 3 years old. I warmed breast milk bottle and bottle fed the baby on a scheduled manner, I prepared and served cereal and baby food meals, sterilized the bottles, changed diapers, dressed him up, stimulated the baby with fun and educational activities.

Furthermore, I read books to the baby, sang to him, took him for nice walks to the parks and playgrounds. Arranged play dates with other children, took the baby for his routine doctor's appointments and kept him in a good balance between naps, feedings and play times. My main priority is always the children’s safety and well-being. I believe that children deserve to be in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where we are able to provide them with the right resources, influences, and piece of information. Also, where we are able to deliver a good structured balance in their lives.

Children observed us all the time and I feel a big responsibility to teach them, to guide them, and influence them in a good way where they can become not just successful people in the future, but also good and compassionate individuals who will create a more peaceful world within them and around them.

The phrase: “ Educating your mind without educating your heart is not an education at all.”- Einstein- relates a lot to me since I believe that we need to teach our children not just the right tools to become successful professionals, but also to raise them in a society where they will achieve their educational dreams, and also where they will learn how to be considerate, respectful, and kind to others and with their loved ones.
