About me

I grew up in a little town 20 miles outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. I was adopted by an amazing couple and grew up an only child. As a child I enjoyed singing and learning how to cook cajun food from my dad. Most of my high school career was spent in choirs, musicals, and vocal competitions so in 2016 I left my little hometown and moved to Hattiesburg for half a year to learn about music at the University of Southern Mississippi. There, what I found there was a passion for helping people in need. I left USM that winter and a year later graduated from the National Academy of Emergency Medical Services. I worked as an EMT for two years before finding my love for music again. I left emergency medicine and started working at my local theatre and giving vocal lessons.
   
Even though I was an only child, I was always surrounded by children. My mom was a teacher for 20 years and it was her passion to help her students and their families however she could. I grew up knowing how to change diapers, make bottles, and keep babies happy. When my first family asked me to start caring for their three boys, they were 1-7 years old. I started nannying for them when their youngest was one, and now he's almost 8! I would change diapers, feed him, make bottles for the littles and snacks and lunches for the older boys, do laundry, take them outside to play, give them baths, and put them to bed with singing or reading them books. When their next sibling was born I was nearing the end of my high school career and worked for them in more of a babysitting capacity. While working with that family I also did weekly childcare for a church for three years (14 children ages 1-15). Most recently I worked as a live-in nanny for a single mom and her 7-week-old who was 3 months premature, until I moved to New York.
   
One of the reasons I love working with children are the small victories you can have with them. Whether it's getting your first smile from a happy baby or having a dance party to 'Moana', those moments make the bad days worth it. I truly believe that the small victories are just as important as the big ones and one day they may contribute to a child becoming a successful and happy adult. Those are the moments I'd love to be there for!
