About me

I was born in Poland but moved when I was very young and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I lived in Chicago up until this past month when I moved to Brooklyn. I absolutely love reading and learning new things, travel, and design. In 2017, I graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education from Loyola University Chicago and received my educator license for grades 1-6 with a focus in ESL. After graduation, I taught Pre-K for almost 3 years at a local daycare. There I met many wonderful students and families and babysat and nannied their children during my time in Chicago.
I have worked with children for 10 years now. From looking after my younger sister cousins, to looking after family friends, I found joy in looking after children and getting creative in the projects and activities we did. In high school I would babysit and work at a Polish school assistant teaching 4-5-year olds. In college I worked after school programs, camps, parties, childcare, and then preschool teaching. I have a lot of experience working with school age children in and out of the classroom and nannying. I have done summer nannying for a 4 year old girl (we commuted home, explored museums, took care of dinner), babysat former students and their siblings (ranging from 2-8 years old, weekend nights, bedtime, dinner, and tidying), and worked with children ages 13 and 15 (helped with homework, cooked, and organized). Most recently I did a nanny share with two boys, ages 3 months and 6 months for 5 days a week from about 8-6pm most days. I would feed and prepare food, change diapers, play and do tummy time, and develop a nap schedule. Occasionally I would stay overnight with one infant. During quarantine, I worked with two families- on family of a 3-year-old and 6-year-old girl, and another with a 5-year-old and 7-year-old girl. I would tutor them in reading and math, prep activities, take care of lunch and nap, and keep everything tidy. I am able to tutor in most subjects, have experience with in-person and online learning, can speak fluent Polish, and have skills to work with ESL children and those on the spectrum.
My main goal in life is to learn and grow as much as I can. I want the children I work with to develop that same love for learning and get as inquisitive as possible. I am a creative and curious person and strive to make the time I spend with children as exciting and warm as possible so that they leave curious and excited to know more. Learning through play is crucial to the development of all children and I want to help all children regardless of age or ability to feel confident and proud of who they are as a learner and human.
