About me

I was born and raised in a seaside town just north of Boston, Massachusetts. I am the 3rd of 4 children.
During my school years, I was active in community theater and gymnastics. As an adult, I remained active in the theater world, and enjoyed several years engaged in 'dinner theater' productions.

I worked as a full-time nanny for 17 years with children of all ages, newborn through teen years. I accepted and held nanny positions in California, New York and Massachusetts. During this time, I attended college part-time during my time off (evenings) with a focus on psychology and journalism. While working as a nanny for a family in Beverly Hills, CA I volunteered monthly at an orphanage across the border in Tecate, Mexico.

Because I have cared for so many children (approximately 5 families over 17 years) I had the honor, privilege and trust to provide for the well being of children of all ages. Some of my favorite times were spent watching a child grow from a newborn to taking her first steps, and entering preschool. I have fond memories of having adventures in NYC with a 10 year old in my care, performing community service with elementary school children and potty training toddlers.

While raising my own family (2 children, now aged 19 & 22) I owned and operated a small business (a driving school, so I definitely have patience!). I also directed teens in a youth leadership program, which included organizing and participating in local service activities, outreach and sustainability projects in Senegal, West Africa.

I have traveled either alone or with my own family to Russia, Africa, Turkey, France and Mexico and have driven across the United States twice.

In 2017 our family closed our business and moved to Nashville, TN to support our son in his music career. Having time to reflect on the next chapters of my life, I chose to embark on an incredible and challenging journey by hiking from Georgia to New York on the Appalachian Trail. For 6 months (in both 2018 and 2019) I carried everything I needed on my back and lived in the backwoods of the Appalachian mountains, totaling 1,700 miles.

I have returned to my career as a nanny and relocated to NYC.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Inspiring young people to use their talents, skills and gifts to make a positive impact in our world!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

My greatest passion is being a champion to others as they strive to overcome obstacles and reach goals. As a teen leader, my priority was helping young people connect the dots between their interests, talents and skills with global or local needs. For example, we introduced a group of teens to 10 global issues identified by the United Nations. Each teen selected one issue that resonated with them. We would then brainstorm ways in which they could make a positive impact by utilizing their own skills. One teen loves to sing and was very concerned with the high rate of infant mortality in some developing countries. Together, we enlisted the help of a local musician who helped her write, record and sell a song to raise awareness and funds for research! With younger children, I enjoy helping them find creative ways to express themselves!
