About me

Hello! My name is Caitlin and I am originally from Ithaca, NY where I grew up exploring gorges (what we are best known for), swimming in waterfalls, and wandering the woods. My love of the natural world has only increased since moving to NYC in 2017 to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Directing from Marymount Manhattan College. I am looking forward to graduating in May of 2021 and hope to make the best of what will likely be an unusual senior year.

I have worked hard to strengthen the skills that allow me to provide children with a safe and nurturing environment. I recently obtained my CPR/AED and First Aid certification from the American Health Care Academy and have attended many safety training sessions in my time as a summer camp counselor. As a babysitter in NYC I have become very familiar with school drop offs and pickups. This has been a huge part of my two most recent positions in addition to arranging playdates, making snacks, ensuring homework completion and of course, reading lots of books at bedtimes. In my time as a church classroom leader and as an older sibling, I have been expected to change diapers, warm bottles, calm crying toddlers and infants and learn to most effectively interpret the needs of those who cannot talk. These experiences allow me to approach early childhood care with a level head knowing that early years pose a different set of challenges that are best met with care, attention, and a willingness to grow as they do .

My career in childcare began the moment my younger cousin was born. Only twelve years old at the time I knew then that caring for others was a part of my calling. I spent much of my own adolescent years as a mentor for younger students in both official and unofficial capacities. This propelled me into the role of a teacher at a young age and I have worked to hone those skills ever since. I love to find ways to incorporate my love of art and nature into childcare. I believe that park visits and dance parties will never go out of style and that offering chances to express creativity allows me to build trust with children as it gives them another way to share with me who they are.
