About me

Hi there! My name is Rachel and I'm originally from Texas! I've been living in New York for the past 8 years and spent 4 of those years pursuing a BFA in Acting at SUNY Purchase. Although I love southern hospitality and big open skies, I followed my path out to the Big Apple and have spent the past 4 year working with an acting agency and auditioning. My favorite thing to do after a long day in a pretty tough industry is seeing the bright shining face of your child and getting back to the reason I became an actor in the first place - playing!

I’ve nannied for a handful of families, but my most recent job was with an 18 month old for 2+ years! I would accompany him to the park as he transitioned from stroller to scooter, settle him down for naps, change some dirty diapers/undies, individually voice every Hot Wheels based on their color and make, and am an expert at being Olaf during Frozen theme pretend time. Before that, I spent a year with a pair of brothers, ages 9 and 6. With my older kiddos, I mainly was in charge of getting them to all of their after school activities on time and with full stomachs! I would make snacks, vegetarian meals, organic meals, and even learned how to whip up some Chicken Tagine! When we weren’t running around, we would play outside, do arts and crafts, play lots of board games, and surprisingly have some pretty deep discussions about the world and what it’s like to grow up as a kid in New York City. Before my nannying days in New York, I was also a Camp Counselor at Kidventure Dallas! We were dedicated to building the self-esteem of the child through fun and purposeful activities and we encouraged kids to play, create, reflect, and explore! We would do this through field trips, game creating, swimming, and even yoga! I supervised and encouraged all of the campers throughout their summer and was even CPR and First Aid trained. In short, I’ve been the camp counselor, I’ve been the nanny, I’ve been the date night sitter, but throughout it all, I’ll be your child’s new best friend.

I believe the purpose of life is to learn. I am dedicated to living my life fully, curiously, and with an open heart. I love being a nanny because I get to witness beautiful little humans live in those values everyday, without hesitation. Kids aren’t afraid to look at things from a different angle, or to be goofy in a crowded subway car, or even to ask really difficult questions. I’m inspired by kids and if I can help them discover a little bit more about themselves in the process, then I’m a happy babysitter.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to be a better human than I am today. I know that the future is uncertain, but I hope that I will have a better hold on the things I can control. That includes being more empathetic, curious, patient, disciplined, loving and all of the other parts of ourselves we have to choose to be each day. I hope that in 5 years I've learned enough about myself to make these choices with more ease.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love teaching kids arts and crafts! I'm pretty good with my paper crafts and am always very excited to see how wowed they are with my giant paper flowers. When we don't craft, I love showing kids different theatre games that I've learned that encouraged the full embrace of your inner goofy!
