About me

I grew up in South Texas with my younger sister! In high school I was an International Baccalaureate student, very involved in speech and debate and was always performing and rehearsing for a play or musical. I have done theatre for 9 years now and am still a performer and teaching artist! I am now a rising senior at New York University getting a Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Study. I have created my own major and am studying theatre, education and writing. I am also president of Lamplighters NYU, a Theatre for Young Audiences club at NYU, whose mission is to create diverse, accessible, high-quality theatre for audiences 8 - 18. I am very passionate about storytelling, education and childcare. I love working with kids and hope to continue to work with them as part of my career!
I have worked with children of all ages, from eight months old to 15 year olds! I have been working with children regularly since age 17. At 17 I was a regular babysitter for a family of four children ages 8 months to 7 years old and babysat almost daily. I would serve meals, give baths, play games, assist with homework, put the kids to sleep and even attend events held by the family, watching and entertaining the kids while the parents ran the event.
From ages 18 to 20 I worked full time at a children's theatre summer camp with ages 6 - 15 years old. My first year I was in charge of the 6-8 year olds and was responsible for keeping them on task during their classes, playing games, resolving conflicts or mishaps (including injuries) and getting to know the kids and be their friend. For my final two summers I was the Acting/Writing Specialist and worked with every age group every day of the week, writing up lesson plans tailored to each age group, writing and directing their scenes, teaching basic acting principles and engaging them in acting games.
At 21 I was program director of a program at NYU called Youth Musical Theatre Collective, in which youth ages 8 - 18 in New York audition to be a part of a musical with NYU students as an opportunity to gain experience in performing and learn from the NYU students! The youngest kid in our cast was 8 years old and the oldest was 14. My job as program director was to ensure that all of the kids were safe and taken care of, under supervision and guidance the whole time and that all of the NYU students were complying with protection of minors rules and being enthusiastic, helpful and supportive mentors for the mentees! I was also a mentor in the show and worked closely with my two mentees, one age 11 and one age 14, and I would help them with their lines, dances and songs for the show as well as getting to know and check in on them throughout the process!
I have also been a babysitter as-needed since 2016 for several families, both at home in Texas and here in New York, for children ages 2 - 11. I've put children to bed, prepared and served meals, played games and stayed up until parents have come home!
I also have experience working with children with ADHD and autism and am very flexible, adaptable and ready to learn how best to care for YOUR child!
