About me
I grew up as the only child of a single mother in New Jersey. My mother is a self-employed graphic designer/fine artist, so creative expression has always been a part of my life. If you asked her what I was like as a kid, she'd tell you that I was always the first one to help someone who fell down on the playground, or ask someone to play that was alone (whether I knew them or not). Compassion and inclusion remain deeply important to me, and are at the center of how I engage with the world. I strive to be the kind of adult that I would have looked up to when I was a kid.
Most recently, I nannied 5 days a week from September 2020-February 2022 for a set of inquisitive, rambunctious twin boys in Brooklyn (we connected via SmartSitting! They were 3.5 y/o when I started with them, and now at 7 I still see them about once a month!) Together their family and I navigated life with Covid restrictions and developed a strong bond. I was responsible for meals, bedtime, enforcing good habits and discouraging the not-so-good, cleaning up (the kids and the home), transport to and from activities and appointments, and of course always having fun, enriching things to do together. We loved to cook together and do crafts of all kinds. Before that, I nannied a boy and girl (18 m/o and 3 y/o at the start) out of college part time, with many of the same responsibilities. I played LOTS of pretend with the girl - making up elaborate stories together almost every day, and engaging the boy with age appropriate activities, letting him lead the way. I've been a camp counselor in charge of twenty 7-year-olds, involving swimming supervision every day, and a classroom tutor for kindergarteners. I've cared for children regularly ranging from 6-months-old to 11-years-old.
If I’m not working, I’m probably reading for class as I just began my (part time, online) Master’s of Social Work. I hope to use my degree to continue to work with children, whether in a therapy setting or in intervention. I believe children deserve the best of what we have to offer, and I hope I can be the kind of grown-up I would have looked up to as a kid!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
While I don’t play an instrument, music has always been deeply important to me and I love sharing this with kids. Whether that’s encouraging them to practice an instrument, experimenting with non-traditional sound, or even exploring recorded music together and helping them discover what they like, it’s all a great joy to me. I also love working on literacy with kids, especially around the age of 5 as when I worked in a school that was my primary responsibility. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch the light bulb go off as kids get the hang of language. I also love cooking and baking, crafts, and using our imagination!
