About me

Hi, families! My name is Emma and I was born and raised on Manhattan's Upper West Side. I've always been passionate about education as a way to make change, and I love working with kids, so I went on attend Columbia University, where I studied Childhood Education and Political Science. I hope to one day work in Education Law, working to increase access to a high-quality education for low-income students. I graduated in 2022!

I am enthusiastic, patient, caring, and fun, and I am passionate about working with kids. My experience is as follows: I've been babysitting/nannying for five years, and I’ve been teaching preschool (children aged 4-5) for the past two years. I've worked with all ages, from 5 months old to 14 years old. In terms of nannying, my responsibilities often involved school and daycare pickups, changing diapers and helping potty train, prepping and serving bottles (breastmilk and formula), meal preparation, prepping lunches and snacks for daycare, giving baths, brushing teeth, and doing the bedtime routine, helping with homework, teaching young toddlers letters, phonics, numbers, and animal sounds, and, of course, exploring all of the wonderful parks, museums, classes, playspaces, and shows our great city has to offer. I also love to do fun crafts, teach new songs, and dance together. I am infant/child CPR/First Aid/AED certified, and have taken courses in child development and safety. I am proficient in French, and have infant, twin, and special needs experience (ADHD, speech delay, learning disability). My most recent nannying experience was with a 3-year-old little girl.

I am well-versed in sensory, fine-motor activities for babies and toddlers, and always make my time with little ones educational, stimulatory, developmentally-appropriate, and of course, fun! I employ a Montessori, child-led philosophy, and I believe in keeping screen time to a minimum and encouraging active learning through play and early literacy through reading. I am LGBTQ+ family friendly, and am open to all cultures and family structures. I would love to work with your little ones as they learn, play, and grow into wonderful, outstanding humans :)

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Definitely music! I have tons of fun songs and dances in my repertoire, and love teaching them to little ones. Reading, too. I love bringing books to life, doing all of the silly voices and really getting children involved in the stories.
