About me

Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, I moved to White Plains, NY, when I was 12. The third of four children, my family was tight-knit; my older siblings looked after me, and I took care of my younger sister. I used to love going on hikes with my family, and exploring nature. I still do! I care very deeply about our planet, which is why I am majoring in Environmental Studies and Global Studies at The New School. In addition to studying, I babysit and tutor. I am fluent in French and Amharic (Ethiopia’s primary language), and I love teaching children and creating fun projects together.

Working with kids brings me great joy. I have over five years of professional experience looking after kids of all ages and genders, both as a personal sitter and camp counselor, where I used to solo-lead baking classes for over 15 campers! Since I moved to NYC, I have worked with various families, including the one that I am currently with on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. I have been with them for a year. There, I am responsible for picking up their daughter after school, bringing her to extra-curricular activities, making snacks and dinner, tutoring her in Amharic, helping with homework, and getting ready for bed.

I'm super fun and energetic like most kids, and I love hanging out in nature. I also love doing art projects, and spending time with friends and family. I believe it is very important to nurture the mind, body, and soul of children. While taking care of children, I make sure that I give them my full attention, and create a joyful and warm environment for them to grow and learn in.
