About me

I grew up in Athens, Ohio with two siblings, a younger sister who's a ballet dancer out in Chicago and a younger brother who will be pursuing a degree in music composition. I got my BFA in Performance from Ohio University in 2014. After graduating I moved to NYC to pursue a career in acting. Here, I have performed in many Shakespeare plays, as well as a short sci-fi film still in production, and I produce my own clown work as well. Among many hobbies, I do karate and I love to juggle and paint. I have recently begun teaching myself the toy accordion and ukulele.

As for child care, with my siblings being significantly younger then me, my first real experience caring for children was with them, especially my younger brother. Beyond that, I have been teaching children's karate classes since 2005, working with kids as young as 4 years old, up to 12 years old. Since then I have continued freelance babysitting, both in Ohio and in NYC. I currently and regularly care for a child out in Park Slope. I began caring for him when he was 2, and he turned 3 back in November. English is his second language, so we have been working a lot on building those skills as well as starting potty training in the past couple weeks.

Beyond freelance child care, I worked for a private preschool from 2015 until 2019, teaching 18 month olds through 2 year olds most mornings, and after school classes to 2 year olds all the way up to 7 year olds in the afternoon. I taught everything from basic Language skills with baby signs, to Karate, to Gymnastics, to Science, to Storytelling in theater. On mornings when I wasn't teaching preschool, I would also teach adult participation classes for people with children 6 months old, up to 2 and a half. We would work through developmental stages as well as provide resources to new parents. During these classes I had the fantastic opportunity to work with many students that had special needs educationally and with physical disabilities. One of the most valuable skills I learned was how to help these students find the tools they needed to succeed in a classroom.
