About me

I am a graduate of Emerson College with a B.F.A. in theatre education. I have a license to teach K-12 in the state of MA. I am from Westchester and have been employed in childcare for several years. In my time since I have been working in both childcare and as an administrative assistant for a construction management company.

From the ages of 13 to 18, I babysat for children ranging in ages. I was often taking care of multiple children, as many as four at a time. I was a counselor for both day and sleep away camps. At day camp, I was responsible for preschool campers and also acted a bus counselor for children ages 2 to 13. I would ensure that the kids were not only safe and brought from activities, but encourage engagement by participating myself. At sleep away camp, my campers were going into sixth grade. My job required me to deliver the best camp experience possible to the girls, while also managing their health and home sickness. Finally, I was a counselor for both 7th and 10th grade girls at an arts sleep away camp. Additionally, I fulfilled my student teaching in drama for middle school students. My responsibilities were to develop lesson plans that promoted socioemotional growth, self confidence, and empathy. My senior year I worked as a part-time nanny for three children ages 8, 11, and 14. I was mostly present for the 8 year old child who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This child was incredibly kind and smart, but lacked verbal communication skills and often would have outbursts. My position was essential for practicing speech and ABA skills, while also creating a safe and fun environment for him. Most recently I was a nanny for two children on the UWS, ages 2 and 7. My responsibilities included playing with the younger child and putting her down for her nap. Later we would pick up her brother from school and I would aid him with his homework and finally start meal prep for dinner.

I am driven by my passion for childcare and development, particularly through theatre and the arts. I believe in encouraging individuality in kids, and helping them develop confidence in what makes them unique.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Teaching drama. I would like to be teaching any age in a school setting in the city. This is what I am most passionate about in life. I love to use drama to help children discover more about themselves and connect to the world around them. I hope eventually to start my own theatre company that allows children with special needs, specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder, to practice the art of theatre.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to play make believe games with children in a very extensive way. For example, pretending to be spies but taking the time to build and design gadgets and having full plot lines of mysteries to solve set up. As a drama teacher I am very lucky to have the skillset that makes diving deep into a game of make believe possible. I also love doing science experiments with kids! It is so exciting getting to teach children the way things work, and watching their eyes light up when they see it for themselves!
