About me

I was born in Houston, Texas. I have two younger brothers, so I often like to say that I have been babysitting all of my life because I have been looking after them for as long as I can remember. I began dancing and singing when I was three years old and went on to complete a BFA in Musical Theatre from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. I moved to NYC originally to begin auditioning for Broadway, but Covid-19 had other plans and I decided to go to law school! I recently graduated from Cardozo School of Law and found out recently that I passed the Bar Exam. Going to law school allowed me to practice my problem-solving skills constantly, which, of course, is a great skill to have when supervising children. I have two dogs back in Houston (a border collie and a mini golden doodle) as well as a tortoise-shell cat named Daisy who lives with me here in New York. I love animals and am very comfortable around almost all pets.

Through high school I spent many summers teaching and assisting with arts camp for children. This included arts and crafts, learning music, and putting on plays, things I still love to do with children that I look after. I began seriously pursuing babysitting and childcare as a job my senior year of high school when I realized that it fit well into my wild audition schedule, I enjoyed it, and even more importantly I was good at it. To pursue musical theatre one must have boundless energy, be quick on one’s feet, and be able to problem solve at the drop of a hat in front of an audience. These skills have translate well into childcare, and children notice and respond to it. Whether I am in a musical with kids, am teaching kids, or am caring for kids, they seem to sense my positive energy, and we tend to make quick friends. I babysat throughout college for friends-of-friends, and after I graduated, I downloaded the Wyndy app in Nashville. The app made it easy to book babysitting jobs, but I didn’t know much about the family until I arrived at their home. Because of this, I had to constantly adapt to new situations, and I also gained experience with almost all age groups: infants, toddlers, elementary, pre-teens, teens. I also gained experience with households with multiple children, twins, special needs, and changing lots and lots of diapers. I currently nanny for an 8 year-old boy three days a week for a couple of hours. I pick him up from school, walk him home, make him dinner, help him with his chores, help him with homework, and then make sure he is showered and ready for bed.

There is a popular musical theatre song from Into the Woods called “Children Will Listen” that makes me cry every time I hear it and that really resonates with me. I believe it is so important to set a good example for children because they start watching us as examples from the moment they are born. I love being a part of their story, and also appreciate everything I get to learn from them! In the words of Stephen Sondheim, “Children will look to you/For which way to turn/To learn what to be/Careful before you say/'Listen to me'… Children may not obey/But children will listen”.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to do arts and crafts with children! I love when they want to draw or make friendship bracelets. I also love playing sports, particularly tossing a baseball (not inside of the house, of course!). With babies and toddlers I love putting them in the stroller and going on long walks. I love taking kids to the park as well. Because I love musical theatre, I love putting on plays or playing with dolls and stuffed animals.
