About me

I grew up in Princeton, New Jersey where I was the child of two professors. Even as a child, I already knew I wanted to be on stage! I loved debate, singing for my reluctant sister, and traveling. I’m the eldest of two girls with two working parents and I loved inventing games and projects for my sister and myself: we loved costumes, outdoor games, and adventure. I spent high school teaching acting classes to kids at the local Arts Council and babysitting. Over the summers, I went to an all-girls sleep-away camp in Vermont where I loved canoe trips and went on to be a counselor. I loved how naturally empowering my all-girls camp was: the role-models I met at camp are still some of the most important women in my life today. I went on to study acting and history at Northwestern University where I fell in love with improv and sketch comedy. I eventually started teaching improv to undergraduates and kids. Meanwhile, I babysat.

In college, I sat for a local Evanston family and I watched their two boys, ages 9 and 11, during the summer and then during the school year. In the summer, we would bike to the beach, I would aid in meal preparation, and we would play outdoor games and board games. During the school year, I would meet the boys after school, prepare healthy snacks, aid in light homework, and play outside. I sat for other families in the area and similarly did summer camp pick-up and drop-off, meal prep, and household help. After moving to New York to pursue theatre, I began sitting for a family of two girls, ages 8 and 10. I bring them to activities, run errands for the family, help with shopping, entertain, and fix snacks. Those two girls are among my favorite New York residents.

I love all the families that I have sat for, and I learn so much from the children I’ve spent time with. Some of the funniest, smartest, and kindest things have been said to me by kids. I believe that a great babysitter requires energy, balance, self-assurance, and warmth. I grew up with numerous beloved, long-term babysitters who have made me the woman (and babysitter) that I am today! I want to be that person, too.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Working professionally in the theatre based in New York. I hope my life will involve beloved family, friends, and fun. I hope to be settled into a job that allows for travel and the ideal is to be working on projects that I am passionate about.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love reading fiction and non-fiction aloud to kids! I like doing voices for the characters (I am a voice-over trained actress). I like to encourage the children to discover new words and participate in the experience of the book. I am a comedy performer and I love making up games and creative activities. I'm a fan of cooking, too. I like to involve kids in making yummy snacks. Finally, I love spending time outside, I like playing "Uno," and playing with toys. I like to enjoy moments of rest and celebrate moments of activity.
